God Can't Move You If You Won't Move

Let me ask you something uncomfortable:
How long are you going to pray about the same thing without doing anything about it?
You keep asking God for direction.
You keep asking Him to open the door.
You keep asking Him for your breakthrough, your purpose, your next chapter, your healing, your confidence.
But what if God has already answered—and your next step is simply to move?
Sometimes we call it “waiting on God” when, if we're being completely honest, we're afraid.
Afraid to fail.
Afraid to get it wrong.
Afraid people will judge us.
Afraid we'll start and not finish.
Afraid that if we actually step into what God has called us to do, we'll have to become someone different than the person we've been comfortable being.
So we stay still.
And then we wonder why nothing changes.
You Can't Steer a Parked Car
Here's something I'll tell my coaching clients all day:
You can pray for direction all day long, but sometimes direction becomes clear only after you start moving.
Think about driving a car.
You can sit in the driver's seat for an hour asking God where you're supposed to go.
You can study the map.
You can talk about the destination.
You can even ask everyone around you for advice.
But if you never turn the key and put the car in drive, you're not going anywhere.
And sometimes that's exactly what we're doing with our lives.
We're planning.
We're praying.
We're overthinking.
We're waiting for confirmation.
We're waiting to feel ready.
We're waiting for the perfect opportunity.
Meanwhile, God may be saying:
“I've given you enough light for the next step. Now take it.”
Faith Isn't Passive
Faith isn't just believing that God can do something.
Faith is trusting Him enough to respond when He calls you to do something.
Peter didn't experience walking on water from inside the boat.
The Israelites didn't cross the Jordan while standing safely on the shore.
Joshua didn't conquer Jericho by talking about the walls.
At some point, faith has to become movement.
That doesn't mean you have to have everything figured out.
It means you stop demanding certainty before you're willing to obey.
You take the step.
Then another.
Then another.
And you trust God with what happens next.
Maybe You're Not Stuck—Maybe You're Scared
This is where personal growth gets real.
Sometimes “I'm stuck” actually means:
“I'm afraid.”
Sometimes procrastination is fear wearing a disguise.
Sometimes perfectionism is fear.
Sometimes constantly researching instead of starting is fear.
Sometimes saying “I'm waiting for God's timing” is easier than admitting, “I'm terrified to take the risk.”
And there's no shame in admitting you're afraid.
But you can't let fear make your decisions and then expect your life to change.
You can be afraid and still move forward.
You can have doubts and still obey.
You can feel unqualified and still begin.
You can take a small step while trusting God with the big picture.
What Have You Been Asking God to Do?
Now I want you to get really honest with yourself.
What have you been praying about?
And more importantly:
What action have you been avoiding?
Have you been asking God to grow your business—but haven't actually put yourself out there?
Have you been asking for a new season—but haven't released the habits and relationships keeping you in the old one?
Have you been asking for confidence—but continually talking yourself out of opportunities?
Have you been asking God to reveal your purpose—but refusing to explore the gifts He's already given you?
Have you been asking for change while continuing to make the same choices?
If that's you, don't beat yourself up.
Get honest.
Then get moving.
Your Next Step Doesn't Have to Be Huge
You don't have to completely reinvent your life tomorrow.
You need one obedient next step.
Make the call.
Send the email.
Launch the idea.
Sign up for the class.
Have the difficult conversation.
Set the boundary.
Start the business.
Apply for the opportunity.
Open the Bible.
Get back into prayer.
Ask for help.
Forgive.
Begin.
Your next step may look insignificant to someone else.
But God can use small acts of obedience to create enormous transformation.
You don't need to see the entire staircase. You need enough faith to take the next step.
Stop Asking for a Door While Refusing to Reach for the Handle
Maybe God is opening something you've been praying for.
Maybe your responsibility isn't to force the door open.
Maybe it's simply to stop standing in front of it afraid to touch the handle.
God doesn't need you to make His plans happen.
But He invites you to participate.
And sometimes participation looks like getting uncomfortable.
It looks like doing something before you feel ready.
It looks like choosing discipline over convenience.
It looks like choosing obedience over fear.
It looks like getting out of the place where you've been circling the same mountain and finally taking a different step.
God can make a way—but you've got to be willing to walk.
It's Time to Move
So here's my challenge for you:
Before you go to bed tonight, identify one thing you've been praying about that requires action from you.
Write it down.
Then ask God:
“Lord, what is my next step?”
Not the next ten steps.
Not the entire five-year plan.
Just the next one.
Then take it.
Because your life doesn't change when you simply know what you should do.
It changes when you do it.
And sometimes the miracle isn't that God suddenly changes everything around you.
Sometimes the miracle begins when He changes what's happening inside you—and gives you the courage to move.
If You're Tired of Feeling Stuck, Let's Talk
As a Christian life coach, I work with people who know they were created for more but feel stuck between where they are and where they believe God is calling them to be.
Sometimes you don't need another motivational quote.
You need someone to help you get honest about what's holding you back, identify the patterns keeping you stuck, reconnect with your God-given purpose, and create a practical path forward.
You don't have to figure it all out alone.
If you're ready to stop sitting on the sidelines and start taking intentional, faith-filled action, I'd love to walk alongside you.
Your next chapter may be waiting on the other side of one courageous step.
Don't wait for everything to change before you move.
Move—and trust God with what comes next.
